There is still plenty to see and do in our beautiful part of the world ~ places that offer a change of scenery while remaining safe, in addition to allowing you to keep your distance from large gatherings of people.

Updated Letter Addressing Covid-19 Within Our Community

Updated Information from Kere S. Greene, President and CEO, Shuttle Express and SEA Black Car regarding Safety Measures Related to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear Valued Guests,

We are sure you have concerns about the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as we do. We want to reiterate that our team and business partners have always taken pride in the cleanliness of our vehicles. We are taking additional steps during this pandemic to ensure our guests, clients, and chauffeurs are traveling in vehicles that are thoroughly cleaned, multiple times each day, during this public health crisis. In addition, our chauffeurs have been asked to avoid the pleasantry of a handshake as another safety precaution.

We place great emphasis on your safety as well as the health and safety of our employees and business partners. All vehicles are expected to be cleaned and disinfected between each trip with anti-bacterial cleaning products for your protection, as well as keeping our chauffeurs safe.

The CDC has issued a statement indicating domestic travel in the United States is still safe, and there is no need to cancel trips or events held within the U.S.

The CDC recommends travelers take the following precautions:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as handles, seatbelt buckles, air vents, buttons, and armrests using a disinfectant wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60%–95% alcohol.
We wanted to share this information with you so you may trust and travel with us with confidence.

Sincerely yours in service,

Kere S. Greene
President and CEO

Shuttle Express Celebrates 31 Years of Friendly, Safe Transportation

Shuttle Express launched its guest service-focused transportation business 31 years ago with just a handful of traditional shuttle vans, pioneering the share ride service model in the Puget Sound region.

Founder and owner Jim Sherrell had a vision back in 1987: to treat travelers with the highest level of guest service and safety. He owned San Juan Airlines at the time, which had the reputation as the safest, most professional commuter airline in the country, and he believed he could transfer that same culture to his start-up transportation company. With that vision, he founded Shuttle Express on safety, integrity, respect, and care, and the same core values still drive the company today.

Shuttle Express has traveled many miles and covered a lot of ground since those early days. Here’s a quick look at the how they’ve grown!

  • Expanded their fleet to include a Luxury Share Ride Family of Vehicles, including luxury Mercedes-Benz vans, new model black cars, and SUVs
  • Added professionally-trained Business Partner Chauffeurs who bring high levels of service and care to every ride
  • Launched Business Class airport service, perfect for busy people who value their time and love outstanding service
  • Created a convenient new APP so guests can book share ride and car service in seconds, track their trips, and monitor their receipts
  • Added full-service mini- and motor coach services for groups of any size

With all the changes through the years, one thing has stayed constant: Shuttle Express’s commitment to friendly, safe transportation service. The Business Partner Chauffeurs are a perfect example. These professionals are the cornerstone of Shuttle Express service, delivering caring and safe transportation for every guest. When you ride with Shuttle Express, you can trust who arrives to pick you up: each chauffeur is hand selected, background checked, drug tested, and trained to offer safe, timely service!

Thanks to our many loyal guests over the decades, we appreciate you! We look forward to driving you for many years to come.

Traveler’s Guide to Eating Well

Traveling can wreak havoc on your eating habits. Being away from home, staying in unfamiliar places, and simply not knowing where to get nutritious and good tasting meals are all to blame. We searched the web for tips to help you navigate dietary pitfalls while traveling so you can enjoy delicious, affordable and healthy food on the road. Bon appetit!

At the airport

Most larger airports have a vast array of eating options to choose from, but they’re notoriously overpriced. If you’re watching your budget along with your waistline, here are some ideas:

  • Eat a hearty meal before you leave for the airport. This is basic advice, but is often forgotten about during the last-minute rush to get packed and out the door. Try to make time to eat a protein- and fiber-rich meal to carry you through several hours.
  • Bring food with you, choosing items that will make it through security and pass the “crush” factor in your carry-on, like nuts and dried fruit. These are the typical choices, but also consider things like hummus and cut veggies, sandwiches, baked potatoes, or leftovers in collapsible containers. Try instant soup for a cheap, hot meal (tip: get free hot water from Starbucks).
  • If you’re on a special eating plan such as vegan or gluten-free, you’ve got several economical options even at smaller airports. Try baked potatoes from fast food joints like Wendy’s, or a veggie-only wrap at a sandwich shop. Most restaurants will also accommodate your needs if you ask.

On your flight

If hunger hits at 30,000 feet and you didn’t pack your own snacks, either stick it out or go for airline food. Some airlines offer tasty fare and not just in first class, but it won’t come cheap. (For insight, check out Delish’s lists for the best and worst airlines for food!) You’ve heard it before: choose lighter options, minimize booze, and drink lots of water.

At the hotel

  • Use apps to find healthy choices — check out Food Tripping, a GPS-based app that locates alternatives to fast food. Or try HealthyOut to help you find healthy restaurant options near your hotel.
  • Pick up some easy-to-prepare food at a nearby grocery store or market, if possible. Even if you stock up on just breakfast and snack items, you’ll probably eat better and save money.
  • Ask for a microwave and refrigerator be delivered if your room doesn’t have them. The hotel may charge you extra, but it’s well worth it if you can prepare and store your food from the grocery store or leftovers from eating out.
  • Pack a collapsible teapot and mini rice cooker to keep costs rock bottom. With a bit of planning, these can fit in a carry-on.

Need a ride?

Take Shuttle Express! We’ll get you to Sea-Tac and back, or anywhere you need to be.

Shuttle Express has a service for everyone: town cars, SUVs, limos, luxury vans, even coach buses for group transportation. 15 Tips to Prepare Your Vehicle for Winter

Do what’s hard when it’s easy! That’s great advice as we head into the cold, wet months — take care of basic maintenance and preparations for your car now, before winter hits. Here at Shuttle Express, we’re always prepared and have a plan to get our guests where they need to be, to Sea-Tac Airport or anywhere, even in nasty weather.

If you need some advice to get started, here are 15 things to do to prep your vehicle for winter from the experts at AAA, Department of Homeland Security, How Stuff Works, and the National Safety Council. While some of these may sound obvious, if you’re not reminded, they may not get done. So, check these out, and you’ll be ready before the first snow flake flies!

1.     Swap out your tires for winter tires with an adequate tread if your climate is particularly snowy or icy.

2.     Make sure to properly inflate your tires, and never mix radials with other types.

3.     Replace your regular wiper blades with a pair designed to handle snow and ice.

4.     Buy windshield wiper fluid specifically made for freezing weather, and make sure your windshield fluid is always filled.

5.     Check to see that your front and rear lights, and flashing hazard lights work.

6.     Remember to keep your fuel tank full, don’t risk letting it get too empty. You may need a full tank if you’re stranded, need to evacuate the area, or fuel delivery near you is compromised.

7.     Keep an ice scraper and snow brush in the car.

8.     Pack an extra mobile phone charger so you always have it in your vehicle.

9.     Program important phone numbers in your phone (vehicle services, insurance agent, someone to call in case you need help).

10.  Pack hats, gloves, and blankets.

11.  Pack non-perishable food that will make it through the season, such as packaged energy bars, canned nuts, dried fruits and hard candy.

12.  Keep a couple of gallons of bottled water in your car.

13.  Wash and wax your vehicle now before it’s subjected to salted roadways during ice and snow storms; this helps prevent corrosion.

14.  Here are more items to keep in your emergency kit: shovel, bag of sand or cat litter for traction, basic tool kit, flashlight and batteries, matches in a waterproof container, and reflective triangles or flares.

15.  Have a well-stocked first aid kit in your car at all times (not just during winter!).

Need a ride?

If the weather outside is frightful and you’d rather someone else drive, take Shuttle Express! Our professional, friendly drivers and chauffeurs have been at the wheel driving through good weather and bad for 30 years, getting our guests safely to their destinations. We’re best known for our iconic Sea-Tac Airport van service, but we do it all—luxury cars, large and small coaches, and private vans.

Remember, when ice and snow are in the forecast, we get busy! So book your ride early at shuttleexpress.com or on our new app. Want to talk to someone? Call us at 425-981-7000. Stay safe this winter!
